About the Author
Kris Mixan has been involved in the field of deafness since 1982. She has worked in a variety of educational settings in the Omaha area. She received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Deaf Education/Elementary Education from the University of Nebraska at Omaha in 1982. She received a Master of Science Degree in Agency Guidance and Counseling from UNO in 1991.
Kris has worked at the Nebraska School for the Deaf and in both oral and total communication classrooms in the Ralston Public Schools. Since 1991, she has been working at Boys Town National Research Hospital in the Center for Childhood Deafness. Kris' job responsibilities at Boys Town include; preschool classroom teacher, parent-infant specialist, consultant on the Cochlear Implant Team and counselor for deaf and hard of hearing clients.
